Massacres It is located in an enviable place, at the mouth of the Yumurí, San Juan and Canímar rivers. It was founded in 1693 considering the "Athens of Cuba" for its cultural and literary development achieved, although today it is a very industrialized city and lacks the charm of other Cuban populations.
On this trip we didn't have any previous information of places to stay. The road and improvisation would take us to what would finally be our destinations, all of them (except in Havana and Cayo Levisa) in private homes of Cubans themselves, which would not give a vision much closer to the life of the country. Here in Matanzas we would end up in House or Hostel Alma.
We will therefore go to “GUIDED VISIT” of the accommodation With our own impressions of the place.
Matanzas has seemed an ugly place with too much traffic. Anyway it is the closest place to Varadero that allows us to stay without paying a hotel and the high prices of such a crowded place (DAY 5 TRAVEL). Here we have arranged accommodation for two nights for 25 cuc each.
The Location It is very close to the sea area and downtown area of Matanzas. In any case, we do not devote too much time to a population that lacked interest.
The rooms They were very spacious, both in space and their beds, with also large closets and bedside tables although with a somewhat rustic decoration.
He bath something small perhaps, but more than acceptable to meet basic needs.
The cleaning absolute in all the facilities of the building.
The whole house belongs to Mayra, a "landowner" who lives far above the rest of the Cuban houses and who separated their lives a lot from that of the lodged guests
Of course the breakfast And the dinners are spectacular. Breakfast just for 3 CUC per person and lobster dinner for 10 CUC
Finally, note that the house has complete security. To enter there is a very large gate that controls Mayra itself and after which you have to climb some stairs that lead to another door
Juve's reflections: "Casa Alma, in Matanzas, this was our musical sponsor during the rest of the trip hahahahaha <>. A lot of grace made us the landowner lady of the house, when we arrived she was sitting watching the novel and with all the calm of the world she got up after a few minutes to show us the room, there everything goes slowly. An old but charming house and a nice patio. Tip, if you go, don't look too much at the balcony, seeing the facade I don't know if it will still be standing."
The we would recommend? Perhaps here we have our doubts, since we believe that there are places where you interact more with the life of the people of the house and that you enjoy much more. We will leave it to the taste of the consumer.
